What do "User groups" mean and how can they be set?

Modified on Wed, 7 Aug, 2024 at 5:02 PM

A "User Group" is a way to efficiently administer the same security rights for a selected group of users within an organization. Multiple User Group modifications can be set up for an organization.

  • A User Group profile must be active for it to be granted security rights.
  • A User Group can be made up of one or all users within the organization.
  • A User Group can have as many security rights as necessary.
  • A User Group requires a name; the name cannot have special characters.
  • A user can be a member of multiple User Groups. When a user is added to a user group, the user inherits the security rights of that user group.
  • A user does not lose any security right unless the security rights are removed at the user or user group level.
  • A user cannot add/remove himself to/from a group, or alter permission of a group he belongs to.
